I was born in 1956 and have been lived in Japan. I loved the class C62 and C58 steam locomotives in Hokkaido Island  in my high school days as well as the class EF60P, EF65P, EF65PF and  EF66 dc electric locomotives hastled in Tokaido main line.

Since 1975, I have been devoted to the class ED75 ac electric locomotive with the power control by magnetic amplifiers. This is a world-rare power control system, which successfully lead the ED75s to be a Japanese standard ac electric locomotive to the number of 302 built during 1963-1976.

It was 1982 when I first visited foreign countries, Canada and the United States. I experienced a rail trip between Montreal and Otawa, and photo shooting of the San Francisco cable car at that time. These were completely different from Japanese ones on the style, size and accommodations.

I found a job at a Japanese university and sometimes had chances to visit foreign countries. In 1996 I found myself to get used to planning a foreign travel and driving a car in the right side of the roads! Then in July 1998 I had been to Europe with a tripod to enjoy rail photoing at major railway terminals in the nights. My first sceinic shot in a foreign coutry was at Villette in Switzerland in 1999. Since then I am quite interested in sceinic rail photo shooting at overseas.
